Q: How long has Barcom been in the alarm business?
A: We are in our 40th year in the alarm business.
Q: A competitor says I can get an alarm for $99. Are these alarms good quality?
A: Like most things, you get what you pay for. Typically these are leased systems, meaning you will not own your alarm system. Normally, your monthly monitoring starts out high and continues to rise over time. These are also usually monitored out of state.
Q: Is local monitoring important?
A: At Barcom, our Central Station Monitoring is right here in Swansea, IL. Everyone employed here is local and has a vested interest in you and the community and are very familiar with the area.
Q: When I call Barcom, do I have to go through an automated system?
A: Whenever you call Barcom, you will speak to a real person, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You will not be calling a 800 number spending 30 minutes on the phone trying to get to a real person. You will never be talking to an automated system.
Q: I just got rid of my landline phone/I am thinking about getting rid of my landline. Will my alarm still work?
A: You can cancel your landline phone, but if that’s what you were using in order for your alarm to communicate with us, we will have to install a device on your panel to let us communicate through the cell network. This is a quick and easy fix. Just make sure you call us before you make this decision and we can go over your options with you.
Q: I had another alarm company that I wasn’t pleased with. Can you take over my system I have now?
A: We can take over your existing alarm equipment, or talk to you about upgrading your existing system. Either way, it’s very simple to be become a Barcom customer.
Q: I’m already a Barcom customer and my friend was thinking about getting an alarm system. Do you have a referral program?
A: If you are a current customer and refer someone that buys an alarm system, you will enjoy 3 months of free monitoring. There is no limit to the amount of referrals you can give.
