Founded in 1976 by John Bartle, Barcom Security & Fire began as a vision to bring safety and peace of mind to the St. Louis area. From its humble beginnings, the company has grown into a trusted, family-owned business headquartered in Swansea, Illinois, serving homeowners and businesses across the region, with additional support staff in Marion and Springfield IL to cover Central and Southern Illinois.
Now owned and lead by John’s son, Mark Bartle, Barcom remains focused on its core values and providing the highest level of service in the industry. Mark’s children, Austin, Braeden, and Alyssa, are also part of the team, carrying forward the legacy of dedication and service. With a focused commitment to innovation, Barcom has evolved from installing early closed-circuit TV systems to offering advanced security solutions, including intrusion and fire alarms, access control, and video surveillance, among other lines.
Our state-of-the-art central station, a fortified monitoring center at our Swansea headquarters, ensures round-the-clock protection for clients. Barcom’s central station carries the highest designation in the industry, as a TMA 5-Diamond Central Station – ensuring customers receive the absolute best protection and service. Less than 3% of all monitoring stations in the United States carry this prestigious designation. Over the past 50 years, we’ve embraced cutting-edge technology to deliver the upmost value, and seamless installations with our union technicians, all while maintaining competitive pricing and a customer-first approach.
