Things That Go Bump In The Night
Fall is here. The leaves are changing. Pumpkin spice everything has taken over store shelves and restaurant menus. And haunted houses are scaring people of all ages. It’s a fun time of year. We know Halloween is the number one day of the year for candy. But treats aren’t the only thing on the rise. So are tricks. Barcom Security can help keep those things that go bump in the night from ruining your holiday.
According to a 2016 study by the insurance industry, crime-related insurance claims jump by 24 percent on October 31.
Most of those crimes are theft from the home. That number is 60 percent. Twenty-one percent of the cases involved off-premise thefts, like items being taken from a vehicle parked in the driveway or on the street. The rest of the claims, 19 percents, were vandalism and malicious mischief. That included things like egging house, TPing and smashing car windows and other property damage.
Avoid being a target by turning on the lights or, don’t post your Halloween plans on social media and make it look like someone is home; even if everyone is out for the night. You can do that by turning on a TV or even installing motion detecting lights. However, there is an extra layer of protection you can add with Barcom Security.
